KOTOKO’s 10th maxi-single announced!

Well, this is a bit different… Marking both KOTOKO’s 10th single release on Geneon records as well as the first time in a good 2 years (the last occurence being 421 -a will-) that a major I’ve single is to be released with no tie-in to an anime franchise, the recently-announced titular theme song from Japanese horror film Real Onigokko (リアル鬼ごっこ) is sure to be something special. Composition and arrangement credits as yet unknown, but with the horror theme of the movie I think it’s a pretty safe bet this won’t be a C.G mix song.

The single is set for a tentative release date of December 19th, while the movie itself doesn’t seem to have anything more solid than ‘2008’ far as dates go.

  1. This has Takase-sensei written all over it. I couldn’t be more excited.

  2. I’m hoping for Nakazawa myself – his Higurashi themes were true J-horror brilliance, and while admittedly KOTOKO’s voice lacks the ethereal spookiness of Eiko’s I’m sure he could do a great job with her. However, I agree with you that it’s pretty much guaranteed to be Takase – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, I’m just slightly worried given his tendency towards the mediocre as of late.

  3. yes I agree with you aibublog…. just when I first read your post, the first thing that came to my mind was Tomoyuki Nakazawa… since I like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Naraku no Hana as well. But when you think of it, there is high possibility that Takase will be the one to compose for the song. I wonder how the song will be performed….
