Aibu, every song from this “best-of” had good anime asociated to them(good meaning..well recived by anime fans) and also there is a “time scale” related to the position of the songs on the album. You say you don’t like the track list…well..Oboetete ii yo is from August 2004, a few months before Re-sublimity and had no anime. With the high number of songs made by KOTOKO…you just can’t make the perfect “Best Of” for everybody. Why you can’t admit and say that you can have 12 – 13 “best of” albums like this from KOTOKO and still have songs left…why you are obessive in trying to make a bullshit out of every new KOTOKO relase? You see….she will still go on doing het thing…plp will still buy… What you want to say…, that we are so stupid cuz’ we buy the new CD’s? So you’re meaning to say that you’re perfectly alright with Geneon releasing a compilation album that includes absolutely nothing that wasn’t on her previous Geneon singles (none of which are, to my knowledge, rare or out-of-print or anything) and doesn’t even include all of her anime tracks from said singles even though they all could fit on the album? It’s not about making “the perfect best-of for everybody”, it’s about not making an 11-track album when they could fill it up easily.
Why I’m saying Geneon is laughing at KOTOKO fans is because KOTOKO fans, like you, deserve better than this. The skimpy 11-song tracklisting is an insult to fans expecting value for their money, and the lack of any new content laughs at all the loyal fans who bought the singles and were expecting any sort of new content on the album to go along with the (admittedly appealing) bonus DVD.

I’m not stupid, singles are for Hit-song CD’s of an artist also for the clip that we get in LIMITED version and it’s supposed to endorse with publiity and money, the artist for the further album. Aibu man…i remember your “U make Ai dream” review and Daily daily…the covers best and worst…the Epsilon previews comments, now the album…everything new coming from her was suppose to be bad..thats the word. Maiku, I’m going to say this once, don’t make me say it again.
People like you are the worst fans KOTOKO could ever have.
I love KOTOKO, the music she’s made has taken me places that no singer had before or has since, not even any of the other I’ve girls. I know she is capable of brilliance, and she achieves that whenever she tries, but on singles like daily-daily Dream all I hear is someone going through the motions without passion, barely recognizable as the KOTOKO I know and love. Why I’m so harsh on her is because I know she can do so much better, and it’s painful to hear talent being squandered through artless messes like BLAZE.
You, on the other hand, your rose-tinted glasses paint her every breath as a new musical revelation, which not only devalues her true achievements (like the recent blossomdays or Shichitenhakki) but also lets her get away with sleepwalking through garbage like Kirei na Senritsu because “everything she does is good”. By being uncritical you only contribute to the stagnation of the artist you love, which is why I feel I’m justified in saying that people like me are better at being KOTOKO fans than people like you.
Of course, I know my words are going to fall on deaf ears. You’ve never shown any capacity for reason in your comments on this blog, and you’ll probably just read this as yet another example of why I am The Devil Personified, but I figure I’d try and explain my perspective nevertheless. In the meantime, feel free to listen to daily-daily Dream like it isn’t a worthless retread of a single that wasn’t any good to begin with; maybe if you think it hard enough it might become true.

See, it’s half-ass releases like that whereat my theory of Geneon being the devil’s advocate shows (not as if that wouldn’t be clear past their 10th anniversay oh-so-totally-uber-limited Departed to the future CD box rip-off which now is sold and dropped below half the original retail price on jp second hand market…). Still I’m surprised they didn’t include any “album original song” which they could later on release as stand-alone Single (my thinking there would qualify me to join Geneon’s marketing department, nee?).

I love how you demote the readership of this blog into lackies of Aibu. If you haven’t noticed, many of us share our OWN opinions. It’s called free will and freedom of choice. If you actually paid attention to the comments on this blog, you would see how often we disagree with Aibu (go look up the review for PSI-Missing if you don’t believe me). We don’t just side with him for everything he says like mindless drones. To accuse us of that is basically insulting every reader of this blog.
Also, since when did Youtube comments become a valid argument for who does and doesn’t like KOTOKO? The fact that most KOTOKO videos on youtube get leftwards of 100000 views with <50 comments hardly makes this a general consensus among listeners. Besides, do you honestly think that Youtube comments should be taken seriously?

You are out of your mind if you think that Kotoko would be better off on Avex Trax! Avex Trax’s artists do better because Avex has enough money to promote their artists constantly. In reality, if Kotoko were on Avex Trax she would get the same amount of promotion that BeForU got, which was very little. They promoted most of their work on their website and on their own personal blogs. Avex is all about the looks too and sorry, but Kotoko is NOT the kind of look they want. They want top model looks. Kotoko is your average Joe, so they’re not going to promote her too much. Your Avex Trax dreams need a little more thought.

Ok, aibu i knew what you think about me…it’s ok i’m cool with that. Same, i’ve talked with 15-20 real japanese guys thanks to YT, KOTOKO(or eny other I’ve Diva), doesn’t get in radio play or TV. In japan they have the stange way to promote the artists by having the radio station or TV channel paid by the record company to play the artist. If there isn’t no money … the artist can be the best but not get noticed. Avex or enyother of the big record companyes would have more money to invest in KOTOKO. So far…, she did it more by her own.., internet guys like me, helped her to raise into wath she is today.

This should have been a 2-CD best-of album, because you can only put so many good tracks on an 11-track CD. Like the others here, I’d really like Suppuration -core- and Agony here, but I also love songs like Shooting Star and LOVE A RIDDLE to be included.
The DVD content somehow dosen’t appeal to me, so it’s better to skip this one. A better one would be a compilation of her PVs for her anime themes :D

Anyway, the tracklisting for the best-of album is kinda predictable… It was pure pi-Geneon works which are mostly underrated, sad to say. D: Even if I had the money to afford this, still I won’t buy it. They could’ve include a remix of one of the songs in the tracklist for buyers to be enticed to purchase the album.
Looks like I’ll be expecting more on MGC2 when the tracklisting’s like this. :/

I’ve been hoping Geneon would dump I’ve for a couple of years now. Their marketing is underwhelming, their artist placement is poor (“Proof?” Glad they made up for THAT mistake), and there is no service to the fans outside the official fan clubs which I doubt Geneon has a part in anyway. I thought that the Departed to the Future box set, though exceedingly expensive for what it was, even by Japan’s high standards, was a decent tribute for fans to enjoy. The rest has been rubbish, and it isn’t getting better.
I’m not saying this “best-of” album contributes either way, I’m saying “best-of” is definitely in quotation marks because if Geneon knew what “best-of” really meant, they’d call it like it is and name this “KOTOKO Anime Singles Collection.” I don’t know the fan reaction to master groove circle among Japanese fans, but I would think that announcing mgc 2 with more of the same crap is a bigger insult than this transparent cash grab.
Would I’ve be better with Avex? Probably, since I think that the I’ve girls would get more exposure (no pun intended at all) to careers beyond anime music, which as hard as KOTOKO has tried, she hasn’t been able to break into. None of them would turn into Idols, and if they ever wanted to, they would have done so already, so I’m not worried about that.

I don’t like this tracklist, What about Shooting star and second flight?. A lot of songs are missing in this best album!!.
On the other hand, I agree with everyone when you say that a change of company, wold not make KOTOKO more succesful, but in fact, I think she deserves to be more famous.
Another point is that in my opinion, this year KOTOKO has overpublished. She has relased so far, three singles and a new album. I think is not a good Idea to relase another CD, is counterproductive for her career. Instead of that, I think like you that Geneon ent. should have been more concentred in MELL, or Eiko Shimamiya.
